The new E.D. Locke Public Library is located on a downtown site across the street from the Village Municipal Center, creating a civic center to help revitalize the downtown. Building entrances face both the Municipal Center and Main Street.
A priority for the Village was designing the library and library site for future expansion. Ground level expansion, as well as a future second floor, are planned for, allowing this site to be the library for decades to come.
The library houses adult, young adult, children’s and non-print collections with distinctive areas for each within an open, flexible floor plan. An enclosed, quiet reading room and children’s story-time area are included. A 58-person community meeting room anchors the facility in the radial portion of the plan overlooking the corner park, with City Access cable television production capabilities so that public meetings can be televised.
